Leon Lewis MD


Dr. Lewis is Board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He graduated from Oakwood College, Huntsville, Alabama and completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology, New York Medical College, in Valhalla New York. Dr. Lewis completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brookdale University Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. He has served on staff as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chairperson of Clinical Department Review Committee, at Huntsville Hospital. Dr. Lewis has also served as the Chairperson of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Quality of Life Health Services in Gadsden, Alabama; the Medical Director of the Alabama Medicaid Maternity Waiver Program in Gadsden, Alabama. Dr. Lewis presently served as a Regional Perinatal Advisory Council Member, Region I for the State of Alabama Department of Public Health. Dr. Lewis is presently in private practice specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Huntsville, Alabama. His interests and areas of expertise include routine and high risk pregnancy, adolescent gynecology, infertility, menopausal patients, endometriosis, laparoscopic surgery, annual and GYN exams. Dr. Lewis’s goal is to help patients understand their medical problem and the many ways in which it may be treated. He offers a full range of diagnostic treatment modalities including, when appropriate, a full range of the latest surgical techniques for the female reproductive system. Dr. Lewis presently has staff privileges at Huntsville Hospital, Crestwood Medical Center, Madison Hospital and Huntsville Hospital Surgery Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

Kristine Putman has been a nurse for over 20 years with experience in intensive care, home health, children's health, and women's health. Much of her career has focused on women and their unique health problems, having worked in labor and delivery, postpartum, and women's surgery units. Her undergraduate work was at Florida State University, and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA in her Masters in Nursing Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She won a NANPA scholarship, has been on the Deans List, and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, a nursing honor society.
